LeNSE: Learning Network South East

LeNSE Partner Organisations

The JANET UK Network

JANET (Joint Academic Network) is the national network that links all Higher Education (HE), Further Education (FE) and Research Council communities in the UK together and to the Internet. JANET is operated and developed under a Service Level Agreement from the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) of the UK Higher and Further Education Funding Councils.

The LeNSE Regional Network

Following an OJEU procurement during 2006, the LeNSE network has been significantly upgraded for October 2007. LeNSE suppliers and partners are Neos Networks Ltd and Alcatel-Lucent Telecom Ltd. The underlying telecommunications infrastructure of the LeNSE network is provided by Neos Networks under a service level agreement from LeNSE Ltd. Alcatel-Lucent Telecom provides the 24x7 network monitoring, help desk and router maintenance services under a service level agreement from LeNSE.

JISC Regional Support Centres

LeNSE is only responsible for the IP transmission service to JANET connected customers. However, the JISC Regional Support Centres RSC-SE and RSC-SW were established to provide end user support to the South's FEIs on JISC/UKERNA service matters.

The LeNSE Internet Connection Service

Non HEI/FEI customers of LeNSE requiring broadband access to the global internet use our Internet Connection Service. Our primary partner for this service is Synetrix Ltd through which LeNSE Ltd has a direct connection into the Arbinet (Band-X) internet exchange service at Telehouse in London.
