LeNSE: Learning Network South East

LeNSE Internet Connection Service

Introduction

The LeNSE Internet Connection Service is available to qualifying organisations across the LeNSE region which wish to procure broadband to access the global internet for purposes that LeNSE Ltd would judge as complementary to our own vision for the national development agenda for "wired-regions". The service offers an organisation IP transit to the global internet in bandwidth increments of 1Mbps via a non-JANET VPN to the Arbinet internet exchange based at Telehouse (London). Optional services such as DNS, firewalls, email accounts and web space can be arranged via third parties if necessary. LeNSE is a RIPE LIR (Local Internet Registry) and able to assign IP addresses to those customers who may need them.

Connecting to LeNSE

LeNSE currently operates five core nodes across the region and these are based at Aldershot, Bournemouth, Brighton, Portsmouth and Southampton. Qualifying organisations are most likely to connect to LeNSE using a dedicated telecommunications circuit into the nearest serving LeNSE core node. However, for organisations based on or near a LeNSE HEI Member campus, connection via the HEI may be possible. In this case please contact the local HEI Director of Computing Services (or equivalent).
